Youth Group Mission Project – Summer 2017
The youth group will be taking part in a local mission project for the summer of 2017. During the months of June and July the youth group will be collecting food for the North Brunswick food bank. The food bank serves over 120 families and they never turn anyone away. The food bank runs low on supplies during the summer months with volunteers and contributors away on vacation. With the schools closed during the summer, many children do not get breakfast or lunch. On July 27th the youth group will be taking the collected food to the food bank. Once there the kids will sort the food, inspect the food (expired food is not accepted), stock the shelves, clean up and prepare bags of food for the clients. Our youth group has reached out to the Pastor and youth group at St. Paul’s church in Milltown and we will be doing this project together. It will be a great way to maximize results for the food bank and give our youth group a chance to work with other kids in town that are active with their church. A collection box will be set up in friendship hall and the youth group along with their adult advisers would like to ask members of the church to please collect and donate food items. While the food bank will take all nonperishable foods they are requesting a focus on kids for the summer. Some requested items include cereal, granola bars, canned pasta, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, and cookies.
